A few photos from The Old Railway Line trail from Tetbury then the footpath across Troublehouse Covert and Riland Covert….

The sky was pretty dramatic at times and the sound was also recorded this morning including an overhead plane !

The blue flowers are Bluebells and the yellow are Cowslips – I know there are also Dandelions in the field too!

Snakes Head Fritillary at North Meadow on the edge of The Cotswolds in Cricklade…..

Thursday, 22nd April 2021

The Snakes Head Fritillary was at North Meadow in Cricklade on the edge of The Cotswolds.

The Saxon town of Cricklade is the first town on the River Thames and North Meadow is a “water meadow” on the River Thames often submerged in water.

North Meadow has 80% of the UK’s “stock” of Snakes Head Fritillary – this delicate little flower is very rare.

With thanks to my old mate and fellow Tour Guide, the late Jim Baker. Lovely guy and gone way too early. It was him who told me about this place.

Bluebells, Cherry Blossom, Daffodils, Tulips, Snakes Head Fritillary – in the Cotswolds…..

Wednesday, 21st April 2021

Bluebells, Cherry Blossom, Daffodils, Tulips, & Snakes Head Fritillary – a Cotswold floral extravaganza !

The Bluebells were in the woodland on route to Dursley from Tetbury – yes there really is a town called “Dursley” – thats where JK Rawling got the name!!

The Cherry Blossom, Daffodils and Tulips were at Beverston Castle (built 1225) near Tetbury.

The Snakes Head Fritillary was at North Meadow in Cricklade. Cricklade is the first town on the River Thames and North Meadow is a “water meadow” on the River Thames often submerged in water. North Meadow has 80% of the UK’s “stock” of Snakes Head Fritillary – this delicate little flower is very rare.

This video takes 25 minutes to watch – best over morning coffee or afternoon tea with a fruit scone, strawberry jam and clotted cream YUM !!

You will see:

Bibury – Gloucestershire
Minster Lovell – Oxfordshire – village and the ruined Minster Lovell Hall
Asthall – Oxfordshire
Swinbrook – Oxfordshire
Taynton – Oxfordshire
Great Barrington – Gloucestershire
Windrush – Gloucestershire

Camera equipment: GoPro 8, iPhone 8, DJI Mavic Air drone.

Come back soon !!

An escapade, 5 miles by foot, across the Estcourt Estate in the Cotswolds…..

Sunday, 18th April 2021

A five mile hike – an escapade, by foot, across the Estcourt Estate in the Cotswolds just a mile or two from Tetbury !

It amazes me that we are allowed access across these beautiful “private” lands so quite what people from other countries must think, for whom the concept of these ancient public footpaths or “rights of way” do not exist, I can only imagine.

We in England and throughout the UK are so fortunate to have this?
